When most of the recent works penned by Kalainyar M. Karunanidhi weren’t visualized with perfection over the screens, director Bali Srirangam makes sure that ‘Pen Singam’ surpasses on such technical arenas with excellence.
‘Pen Singam’ is produced by N. Jaya Murugan under the banner of J. Nandini Arts featuring Udhay Kiran, Meera Jasmine, Richard, Radha Ravi and ‘Thalaivaasal’ Vijay in lead roles. With major portion of the film being canned in Chennai, a stupendous stunt sequence of climax was shot across the outskirts of Chennai near the ports of Ennore.
Apart from these leading actors, Vivek, Riteesh M.P, Sudarsana Sen, Rambha, Rohini, Sriranjini, Vaagai Chandrasekar, Nizhalgal Ravi, Madan Pop, O.A.K. Sundar and many others have performed prominent roles.
Art Director Sagu had erected grand sets for a song that features choreographer-actor Raghava Lawrence and Lakshmi Rai shaking legs together. P.C. Sriram’s assistant Vijay Ragav has cranked the camera. Apart from this, couple of duet songs penned by Kalainyar Karunanidhi has been pictured in the backdrops of foreign locales.

Uday Kiran's Pen Singam shooting is going to end

Pen Singam is a film which is the creation of Kalaignar Karunanidhi. The talkie portions of this film are over and only song sequences are remaining to be shot. The songs are to be shot in Switzerland.

Director Bala Srirangam while speaking about this film said, “This film Pen Singam will be the most unforgettable film in my life time, because I had got the opportunity to direct a film which is the creation of Kalaignar. He has given his whole effort and motivated me by giving total freedom to direct this film. We have spoken about women’s liberation very strongly in this film. This film has also the ingredients of a commercial film.”

Udhay Kiran is doing the lead role while Meera Jasmine dons the role of a police officer. Richard is in the role of a Tamil orator. Sudarsana Sen is pairing with him. Radha Ravi, Thalaivasal Vijay, Vivek, Riteesh, Ramba, Mohini and Vaagai Chandrasekaran are doing important roles.

This is the first that Deva is composing music for Kalaignar’s film. The song sequences with the lines Veenail Ezhuvathu Venu Ganama written by Kalaignar and the song with the line Nee Sonnal Thei Pirai written by Vairamuthu is being shot in European countries.

This high budgeted film is being produced by J Nandini Arts N Jaya Murugan and Arumuganeri S P Murugesan.

Vaali And Vairamauthu come together

‘Pen Singam’, which has story and dialogues by Chief Minister M Karunanidhi,

has now got another significance.The film will bring together lyricists

Vaali and Vairamuthu after a long time. The ace poets had worked

together for movies long back. They rendered songs that withstood

the test of time. Now with ‘Pen Singam’ they are coming back again.

Interestingly, the film has also got a song pened by Karunanidhi himself.

The number ‘Veenaiyil Ezhuvadhu Venuganamo….’ set to tune by Deva

was penned by the octogenarian in just 10 minutes.

Says the film’s director Bali Srirangam,

“The highlights of ‘Pen Singam’ are increasing day after day.

At a time when we thought the song penned by Kalaignar

as the biggest asset, the coming together of

Vaali and Vairamuthu has added to our joy.”

‘Pen Singam’, based on Karunanidhi’s novel ‘Surilimalai’,

has Tollywood Ultimate Star Uday Kiran, Richard,

Meera Jasmine, Karthika, Vagai Chandrasekhar,

Rohini and Y Gee Mahendra playing important roles.

The movie is produced by Arumuganeri S P Murugesan for Nandhini Creations.

In 1970’s, Maxim Gorky wrote a popular Russian novel ‘
The Mother’ and it was adapted in Tamil by Kalaignar.
M. Karunanidhi as ‘Thai Kaviyam’. That novel is planned
to be made as a movie under the banner of Nandhini Arts
directed by Bali Srirangam.

That film is later dropped due to some unknown reasons
. Kalaingar’s last released film ‘Uliyin Oosai’ is also made
under the same Nandhini Arts Now, the production house
is ready to make another movie titled ‘Pen Singam’.

For this film the story, Screenplay and dialogues are by Kalaingar
and that was good news for people who are missing the beauty
of old Tamil and Kalaingar’s work. The director of the film was
the same Bali Singam. It is also heard that the movie will
have a backdrop of a social narrative.

Meera Jasmine who was banned a few months ago by the malluwood is back and is making merry these days. The pretty lady has been roped into a movie which has been penned by Chief Minister of Tamilnadu –Mr Karunanidhi. The movie is said to be a bilingual movie and will be released in Telugu and Tami

After the release of this film, the movie will be dubbed into Malayalam and Kannada simultaneously. The movie has been titled as “Pensingam” and has Meera in an excited role. Tollywood's Ultimate Star Uday Kiran has been roped into the movie as a male lead. So, let’s hope that this movie will bring immense luck for Meera and the closed doors of malluwood will open for her soon.
